CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

Graduate Clinician – Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY (June 2015-present)

  • Prepares semester treatment plans, session treatment plans, SOAP notes, and progress reports to target and track both long- and short-term goals of individual clients
  • Plans and implements twice per week therapy for a bilingual Spanish-English adult client 5 years post-CVA with Aphasia, Flaccid Dysarthria, and Apraxia of Speech targeting coordinating respiration, appropriate articulation, and alternative and augmentative communication via a Speech Generating Device assessment and training
  • Plans and implements twice per week therapy for a 6 year old, monolingual English-speaking client with Autism Spectrum Disorder targeting pragmatics and language delay

 

Graduate Clinician – CommuniCamp at Edward D. Mysak Clinic for Communication Disorders, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY (June 2015-July 2015)

  • Planned and implemented bi-weekly therapy for a monolingual English child client with Autism Spectrum disorder, DiGeorge Syndrome, and Apraxia of Speech targeting the generalized use of alternative and augmentative communication via the Proloque2Go application on a dedicated iPad

 

Graduate Clinician – Center for Cerebral Palsy Research Movement Camp at Teachers College, Columbia University, Teachers College, Columbia University, New York, NY (June 2015-July 2015)

  • Planned and implemented daily therapy for children with Spastic Cerebral Palsy utilizing the Speech Systems Intelligibility Treatment (SSIT) protocol in order to target improved intelligibility and speech function

Graduate Clinician – Instituto del Habla y La Alimentacíon en Personas con Paladar Hendido, Quito, Ecuador (May 2015)

  • Evaluated monolingual Spanish-speaking children with repaired clefts for compensatory speech errors due to cleft palate
  • Conducted individual articulation therapy for monolingual Spanish-speaking child clients with compensatory speech errors due to cleft palate
  • Conducted individual language therapy for a monolingual Spanish-speaking child client with ataxic dysarthria targeting perception of different phonemes and fine-motor coordination of his articulators

 

Graduate Clinician – Healing the Children Cleft Palate MissionNeiva, Colombia (May 2015)

  • Collaborated with a Cleft Palate team including cranio-maxillofacial surgeons, general practitioners, oral surgeons, dentists, registered nurses, and speech language pathologists to evaluate over 500 patients from Colombia
  • Evaluated and differentially diagnosed monolingual Spanish-speaking children with repaired clefts who needed further surgery and children who needed speech therapy for compensatory strategies
  • Conducted individual and group therapy for monolingual Spanish-speaking children with repaired cleft palates to target correct place of articulation and reduce compensatory strategies and nasal emissions
